Lexus has rapidly became the class of the luxury sedan lines as far as I am concerned. Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar may have bigger engines and a sportier handling but as far as quality ride and finish, Lexus is the top of the heap to me. The Lexus LS-460 or 460L are really sweet and would definitely be my choice in the regular gas powered luxury sedans. The Lexus LS-600hL is the hybrid version and would be really nice if you had 130 grand to spend on a car. The 2010 Lexus LS-460 and 460L are powered by a 90 degree V-8 with an aluminum block and heads. It has direct and port injection. It is a 4.6 liter and has four cams, four valves per cylinder with dual variable valve timing with intelligence and electronic intake valve timing. It puts our a healthy 380 horsepower at 6400 RPM for the rear wheel drive model and 357 horsepower at 6400 RPM for the All Wheel Drive model. It is certified as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. The drive train on the two models are very similar. The rear wheel drive has Standard Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management. It has a ultra smooth eight speed sequential shift automatic electronically controlled with intelligence. The AWD model has full time all wheel drive with TORSEN limited slip center differential and Standard Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management. It also uses the eight speed automatic. The LS-460L is a longer wheelbase so supposedly rides better but they both ride so nicely that I really can’t tell any difference. I have never talked to a Lexus owner that didn’t absolutely love their Lexus. Yes, I am sure there are some out there that don’t but I have never met any of them. They are just top notch in every way. There is also a LS-460 sport model that has Brembo brakes, 19″ SPort Wheels and a sport tuned suspension. The drivers compartment is pure luxury. An optional feature on the 460L is that the Executive Class Seating replaces the rear bench seat with two individual seats. The right rear seat has power reclining ability, a built in ottoman style leg rest and an indulgent shiatsu massager. Infrared sensors measure body surface temperature and automatically adjust the four zone climate control. The aniline leather is the nicest I have ever experienced including the $385,000 Bentley Azure. The 2010 Lexus LS models showcase so many of the latest advances.
